June 12, 2013

We left this morning around 7:15 or so (8:15 Oklahoma time) and returned this afternoon around 4:00.  We had a full day traveling around Yellowstone Park but only took in about a quarter of what there is to see here.  It rained a lot of the afternoon but we still drove on.  We will be touring the park more but got a pretty good feel today of what to do and where to go.  We did make it to Old Faithful, which was quite spectacular!  Thankfully the sun was shining the majority of the time we were there and it did not begin raining until we were beginning to leave there.  At the same time Old Faithful erupted so did Beehive Geyser, which, from what we understand, is not something that happens that often. In fact, we overheard one guy say he had been there a 100 times and this was the first time they ever erupted at the same time!  What great luck!  Below are pictures of the two geysers.

Beehive Geyser:

We did not see many wildlife today except buffalo, but following are some we did spot. (No buffalo pics!!!)

My favorite!

 Elk Cow
 Moose
Bull Elk

Hopefully we find some bear in the next few days and some bighorn sheep!!
